INTRODUCTION
Designed by Geoffrey de Havilland; the DH82 Tiger Moth first flew in 1931. The aircraft was used extensively by the RAF as a primary trainer although also found some military action in the form of maritime surveillance and even as a light bomber!
Between 1931 to 1944 nearly 9,000 Tiger Moths were built. They remained in RAF service until eventually being replaced by the de Havilland Chipmunk in the early 1950’s.
The Tiger Moth remains a much loved tailwheel trainer today and is ever popular as a private aircraft flown for pleasure. If you want ‘open cockpit’ flying and a ‘true seat of your pants’ feel, the Tiger Moth a very sort after classic that’s hard to beat!
This aircraft, ‘G-AOIS’ was built in 1939 and taken on charge by the British RAF as ‘R5172’. The aircraft is an exceptional example and is flown regularly with a full UK C of A. It is a well known, well respected example and still flies in its RAF ‘R5172’ markings.

History
Built in 1939 and operated by the RAF under designation ‘R5172’. Privately owned and civil registered in 1956 and moved to a new home at Shoreham Airport between 1965 to 1994 changing hands twice more.
Now residing in Northampton at Sywell Aerodrome, maintained to a high standard on a full UK C of A.
